CORPORATE GREEN DAY CHALLENGE, SATURDAY, APRIL 1, 2017
The month kicked off with the annual Corporate Green Day Challenge. This volunteer day brought together hundreds of employees and included a diverse array of outdoor projects hosted by EarthShare of Georgia member groups at sites throughout Georgia. The teams worked together to clean-up parks and greenspace, plant gardens, develop trails, and remove invasive plants so that our natural ecosystems can be protected.

Corporate volunteer teams included Bank of America, The Coca-Cola Company, Cox Enterprises, Delta Air Lines, Hannah Solar, Kaiser Permanente, Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Newell Brands and SCANA Energy.

The 2017 Corporate Green Day Challenge Award was presented to Delta Air Lines.
Delta Air Lines partnered with Flint Riverkeeper and the Southern Conservation Trust at Line Creek Nature Reserve in Peachtree City. “The primary focus of this project was a large constructed wetlands area which provides a “Green Infrastructure” solution to storm-water runoff from [the] adjacent shopping center by retaining, filtering and gradually reintroducing water to the environment downstream,” said, Melinda Langston, judge for EarthShare of Georgia’s Corporate Green Day Challenge.
